The company has experience within the African sub-region, particularly South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland and Zimbabwe where we are knowledgeable with the terrain and logistics requirement. Enerpro Drilling was founded in 2018 by Johann Pretorius.
The original business, then called PJ DRILLNG, was managed and owned by the late Pieter Pretorius. During the seventies, eighties and early Nineties, PJ Drilling drilled hundreds of boreholes, throughout South Africa. Water boreholes for domestic use, boreholes for mines, were contracted by the Department of Water Affairs, drilling borehole in Dwaalboom, Elissras, Muzina, Thabazimbi, the Kwazulu Government, over a period of 17 years, drilling water boreholes.
PJ Drilling drilled percussion boreholes in the Goldfields. The deepest hole ever drilled with a 750 cfm Compressor, 1325 meters.
PJ Drilling closed its doors during 1995, to make way for the newly founded Percusso Bor, when Johann joined his farther in the drilling industry, with the resources and knowledge of PJ Drilling, Johann and late Pieter managed and operate Percusso Bor for a period of 20 years.
We drilled for mine groups such as Exxaro, at Matla Mines we were the first drilling company drilling the blasting holes in the goaf. Boreholes of 17 inch in diameter were drilled for the installation of pumps to dewater the mine.
During this period a strong bond existed between Percusso Bor and Sasol, and numerous boreholes were drilled, at the Sasol Mines, like Brandspruit, Middelbult, Shondoni, Bosjespruit, Twistdraai, Syferfontein and Sigma at Sasolburg. For those who could remember our site offices were just behind Boeta’s Butchery near Charlie 5. We participate in the raise boring projects at Sasol Shafts, conducted by Murray and Roberts, while the main contractor would do the raise boring we executed the pre-mining ground stabilization work.
We are proud to say that we worked alongside people such as Buch Fourie, Jan “Oorlog”, Frank Trollip, Chris Potgieter, Conraad Katz and Frans Kok.
In 1997 PDI Drilling was founded as a BBBEE Company by late Pieter Pretorius, Johann Pretorius and Petrus Mofokeng. PDI Drilling work hand in hand with Percusso Bor. PDI Drilling finally take over from Percusso Bor in 2015.
With the passing away of late Pieter Pretorius in July 2019 it was decided that ENERPRO will take over from PDI Drilling.
ENERPRO Drilling as its predecessors is a land drilling contractor, with headquartered in Oranjeville, Free state. Operating predominantly in the Sub-Sahara, ENERPRO is dedicated providing the best quality drilling services to its clients.
Johann Pretorius founder and director of ENERPRO DRILLING Pty (ltd), Johann Pretorius has been in the drilling industry for many years, and have built up an extensive knowledge base across the continent, working with contractors, consultants and mining companies in the drilling field. Now, as director of ENERPRO DRILLING Pty (ltd), striving hard to get the best results for our clients.
